Mark's Gospel
Discover how four bible stories told in Mark's gospel can help us think about God. Begin with the Introduction then look below to find an activity sheet and video for each story.
John the Baptist
This painting by David Zalenka shows John baptising Jesus in the River Jordan. You can tell which man is Jesus by his yellow halo and the white dove above his head. If you have been baptised (often called Christened), it probably wasn't in a river!
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
A photograph of a Black Mustard tree growing in Palestine. If you look at a jar of mustard in the supermarket, you can sometimes see the tiny round seeds inside.
Jesus Feeds the 5,000
A floor mosaic showing a basket of 5 loaves. It was found in 2019 by archeologists excavating a church in Hippos, near the Sea of Galilee. Other parts of the floor show fish. It is over 1,500 years old but survived because the church burnt down and the mosaic was covered by ash.
The Last Supper
This sculpture from Cologne Cathedral in Germany, shows Jesus and his disciples at The Last Supper. Jesus is in the centre holding a goblet of wine with a loaf of bread on the table infront of him. Can you spot Judas holding his bag of money?
